Storing Coffee
Because roasted coffee is perishable and it’s flavor will degrade over time, we ship all of our coffees sealed in special valve-lock bags. The valve, in the front of the bag, will not allow any harmful oxygen in but will allow carbon dioxide – which roasted coffee naturally gives off – to escape. Until you are ready to use your coffee, it is best left unopened in this bag. Once you have opened the bag, your coffee will taste best if used within two weeks.
To store coffee after is has been opened, simply roll the top of the opened bag down as far as it will go and seal it using the tape strip located on the back of the bag. If you prefer to keep your coffee in a canister or other container, make sure that it is airtight. In addition to oxygen, light will also deteriorate the flavor of your coffee. If you use a see-thru canister, store it in a cabinet away from light.
We do not recommend storing your coffee in the refrigerator as the coffee will absorb odors and flavors from other foods.
