Caffeine

Caffeine is an odorless, slightly bitter tasting compound which is found in the leaves, seeds or fruits of more than 60 plant species world wide. coffee beans, tea leaves, cocoa beans and cola nuts all contain caffeine.

 

Laboratory analyses vary widely as to the amount of caffeine in a cup of coffee. Whether or not the coffee is a mix of arabica and robusta beans (Kobos Coffee uses only arabica beans), the strength of the brew, and the brewing method all influnce the caffeine content in the cup.

 

The numbers below are simply estimates of caffeine content:

 

6 ounce cup of arabica coffee:              100 mg

6 ounce cup of robusta coffee:              200 mg

6 ounce cup of decaf coffee:                 2 mg

6 ounce cup of supermarket coffee:      140 mg

6 ounce cup of tea:                              50 mg

6 ounce cup of drinking chocolate:        25 mg

1 ounce of chocolate:                          10 mg
