“Kahlua” Liqueur


 

 

Drip Brewed Coffee Method

 

    1           cup sugar
    1           cup water (to be boiled with the sugar)
    1 1/2     cups coffee ground for a manual drip coffee maker
                 (try Sumatran Mandheling or Vienna Roast)
    1           cup boiling water (to be poured over the ground coffee)
    1           cup 100-proof vodka
    1           whole vanilla bean

Boil the sugar and first cup of water together for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, place the ground coffee into a manual coffee maker. As slowly as possible, pour the second cup of already boiling water through the grounds. Add the brewed coffee to the sugar and water mixture and allow it to cool until lukewarm. Add the vodka. Pour the mixture into a sterilized bottle and insert the vanilla bean. Seal the bottle and allow to age for one month before serving.

Toddy Cold Brewed Coffee Method

 

    1 1/8    cups sugar
    1 1/8    cups water
    1 1/4    cups Toddy Cold Brewed Coffee Extract
    1 3/4    cups 100-proof vodka
    1           whole vanilla bean

Boil the sugar and water together for 10 minutes. Add the coffee extract and allow it to cool until lukewarm. Add the vodka. Pour the mixture into a sterilized bottle and insert the vanilla bean. Seal the bottle and allow to age for one month before serving.
