the coffees we recommend:

While you can use any coffee you like in your french press, we prefer full bodied coffees such as our:

the amount of coffee to use:

Use one heaping tablespoon of ground coffee for every five ounces of water. For a stronger brew, use more.

the steps:

1. Fill a kettle with cold water (filtered if you have it). Place the kettle on your stove and heat the water to between 190 degrees and 205 degrees. This is the temperature just before boiling (when long streams of fine bubbles rise from the bottom of the kettle).
2. While the water heats, fill your French Press with hot tap water. This will warm the glass of the press and help keep your coffee hot.
3. Once the water on your stove is heated, pour the tap water out of your French Press.
4. Scoop coarsely ground coffee into the press.
5. Slowly pour the heated water into your French Press.
6. Place the lid on top of the press with the plunger just two inches down into the brew. Allow the coffee to steep for approximately five minutes.
7. While your coffee is steeping, pour some hot water into your mug or cup to warm it.
8. Carefully swirl the hot water around your mug then pour out the water.
9. After the coffee has steeped, slowly push the plunger of the pressdown to the bottom.
10. Finally pour the hot coffee into your warmed mug. Add cream, milk or sweetener if you like. Enjoy.
